Use Second Life Batteries

Almost every day, we all hear about the importance of recycling, and many companies are creating different products in the market made of recycled materials. Even the concept of recycling batteries has gained the attention of many people, and it is the best way to reduce the manufacturing cost and the wastage in the environment.

There are many reasons to use recycled batteries. Some of the most important ones are stated below:
Recover Non-Renewable Resources

Technological companies are shifting toward inventing more portable technical devices run with batteries to save the environment. The growing use of batteries means more requirements for raw materials such as Metals Lead, Cadmium, Nickel, Zinc, Mercury, Cobalt, Lithium, Silver, and Manganese.

The current mining operations worldwide cannot produce enough lithium and other essential minerals to satisfy the rapidly increasing demand for these batteries. However, batteries are more sustainable resources because these batteries can be renewable. The metals used in producing batteries are not renewable but can be recycled through various techniques.

Dumping batteries into landfills is hazardous as it may produce environmental toxicity. Recycling these batteries can bring the materials back to the battery production companies and deliver economic benefits.

Protect Environment from Harmful Materials

Rare Earth metals used in the production of batteries such as Lithium, Cobalt, Nickel, and Manganese are, unfortunately, harmful to the environment and human health. Most commonly, Mercury is a cause of both historic and ongoing mercury poisoning, and lead and Cadmium are among the more dangerous environmental pollutants.

Aside from that, rare Earth metals have traditionally been produced by the mining process. Mining causes inevitable environmental damage, including the depletion of neighboring water supplies and contamination of the area around it with runoff waste. Recycling end-of-life batteries are the best option to protect our environment as the harmful elements are converted into the supply chain instead of disposed of in the landfill.

Ensure End-of-Life Batteries Are in Safe Hands

Batteries are being used in huge quantities as every portable electronic device, whether a cell phone, laptop, or an electric car, runs with the functioning of batteries. Despite the extensive usage of batteries, there are some rare cases where the condition of battery explosion and fire may occur. If the waste facilities catch fire due to a battery explosion, it can even be not easy to extinguish.

Some types of lithium batteries are more likely to cause fires than others, but all batteries must be stored properly if they are damaged or exposed to heat. Keeping lithium batteries in a safe storage location can prevent fires and explosions. Recycling batteries bring the end-of-life batteries into safe hands instead of dumping them into waste.

Meet Increased Demand for Recycling

In 2022, there will be a demand for lithium-ion batteries in the region of 1,200,000 metric tonnes in the electric vehicles industry alone. The required materials are anticipated to reach 7,500,000 metric tons by 2030.

As there is already a shortage of rare Earth materials, we have no choice but to recycle end-of-life Lithium-ion cells to extract the raw material for producing more batteries without harming the environment. Many battery recycling companies invented different techniques for extracting raw materials, such as Nickel, Cobalt, Manganese, high-grade Plastic, Aluminium, Steel, and Copper, from end-of-life batteries and sending them back to battery production companies to meet the increased demand for batteries.

Reduced Future Costs

As we stated above, batteries contain valuable materials. All the materials used in the production of batteries are limited in supply and subject to price fluctuations. The demand for batteries is increasing rapidly due to the continuous technological revolution, and supply cannot meet the demand because of the limited resources. Recycling batteries keeps these all finite materials in circulation. This increases the supply chain, and the cost of resources price decreases, directly lowering the prices of new batteries.

We at BatX Energies are working on a single mission to create a truly circular economy. Now you may wonder what the circular economy is. In a circular economy, once the product has been used, it is returned to the supply chain instead of disposed of.

We are indulged in extracting rare Earth metals such as Lithium, Cobalt, Nickel, and Manganese from used Lithium-ion cells. As a result, these precious rare Earth metals can be used to manufacture Lithium-ion batteries without causing harm to the environment.
